Sebastian Studnitzky was born in the black forest and now lives in Berlin, working with innumerable internationally recognized musicians. He began his career as a jazz trumpeter but over time has come to feel more and more at home with many different musical styles. Studnitzky has also become highly skilled in numerous instruments. On his new album “EGIS”, he has developed his own sound as trumpeter, pianist and keyboarder. It is jazz – and far more. Studnitzky’s music is characterized by a very specific and unique sound. It is a special kind of emotionality and simplification that actually intensifies the way you experience the music. Each song is perfectly balanced between great emotionality and the planned spontaneity of a recording situation.
»Whilst composing a piece I actually already hear the sound it should have« says Studnitzky. Everything has to be perfect: the instrumentals, the atmosphere of the surroundings and the individual input of the musicians. For his current album he worked together with Paul Kleber (bass) and Sebastian Merk (keyboards). On some tracks Studnitzky played all of the instruments himself. Be it the trumpet or the piano – his special way of playing is ever present: simple, soft, flowing and discreet, but nevertheless highly intense and vivid. His individual playing style is open and varied and this makes him a highly sought-after and distinguished sideman on international stages. He has performed with Nils Landgren, Wolfgang Haffner, Jazzanova, Rebekka Bakken, Helmut Hattler and Joy Denalane – just to name a few. He also has his own projects e.g. his jazz-prize-winning quartet Triband. A special sound, creative restlessness, broad musical spectrum, exactness and energy all characterise the musician Sebastian Studnitzky. On »EGIS« all of this is recognisable in a discreetly distinctive way.
